WHAT IS A SOUTH AFRICAN VOLUNTEER VISA?

In order to volunteer with one of the many charity organisations in South Africa you must acquire a valid Volunteer Visa. Those applying for a Volunteer Visa must submit their application at the South African Embassy in their home country. The Volunteer visa can be issued for the period between 3 to six months.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR A VOLUNTEER VISA?

1. A letter from the Volunteer Organisation providing proof of the purpose and duration of your stay.
2. Applicants must have proof of a return ticket or have paid a Repatriation Deposit.
3. Applicants must provide evidence of adequate funds to accommodate their stay in South Africa.
4. If intending to stay for longer than three months, applicants must pass a medical test as well as providing a police clearance certificate.

It’s important to note that a Volunteer Visa must be issued before the volunteer travels to South Africa.
