Zimbabwe Special Dispensation

30 Sep 2014

The Department of Home Affairs has issued a deportation warning just days before the Zimbabwe Special Permits programme is set to launch.
Zimbabweans who obtained permits under the Dispensation for Zimbabwe Project (DZP) in 2010 are eligible.
Approximately 245 000 Zimbabweans who benefited in 2010 under the dispensation project will be eligible to apply for work and study permits under the new Zimbabwe Special Permits (ZSP) programme.
Undocumented foreigners without proper travel documents or permits will be deported in line with the new immigration laws the Department of Home Affairs implemented earlier this year.
The Dispensation of Zimbabweans Project will expire on the 31st of December 2014.
ZSP applications can be completed online and only current Dispensation for Zimbabwe Project permit holders are eligible to apply.
Applications will only be accepted from October 1 2014 with a fee of R870 per application.
The ZSP will allow Zimbabweans to conduct business, study or work in South Africa until December 2017.
VFS offices have been established throughout South Africa and can be found in Midrand, Cape Town, Polokwane, Durban, George, Port Elizabeth, Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Nelspruit and Rustenburg.
The application process will be done according to the applicant’s date of birth where they will be notified and called for interviews accordingly.
To ensure smooth operations 120 staff members from the department have been assigned to this project.
