Major US automotive and energy storage company Tesla Motors intends to establish a factory in South Africa. South Africa is the birth place of Tesla founder, Elon Musk.
According to reports, Tesla will establish a factory in South Africa with the intention to bring industrial scale energy storage solutions to the country.
It is good news for South Africa as the present parastatal power utility, Eskom, is struggling to cope with the power demands of the country.
The office will be run by Evan Rice, who is the CEO of GreenCape. GreenCape was established in 2010 by the Western Cape Government as a Special Purpose Vehicle in order to support the development of the green economy in the region.
The Tesla Powerwall was introduced in May 2015, and is said to be one of the most crucial building blocks to deliver sustainable energy around the wall.
