The Business Visa is specifically available for applicants that wish to establish a new business or invest in an existing business in South Africa.
The Business Visa application process is, at least, a two-step process:
The first application is to the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC). This application is for the DTIC to issue a Certificate that confirms the following:
One of the primary requirements for the Business Visa is that the applicant must be investing at least an amount of R 5 million. In the event that the applicant does not have this amount to invest in the business or if the investment in the business does not require this size of investment then the applicant can apply for a Waiver of this requirement. The waiver of the R 5 million investment must also be approved by the DTIC.
After the DTIC has issued the Certificate then the Business Visa application can be submitted. Should the applicant request a Waiver of the R 5 million investment then they must first submit a Waiver Application to the Department of Home Affairs and only once that has been processed will they then be able to submit the Business Visa application.
